Job Overview

Interns will work alongside the US Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management in various locations across Colorado and southern Wyoming. Our participants will gain experience, make connections, and serve public lands.

Start dates vary by position with some starting asap!

Current USFS positions include:

  • Wilderness Trails in Aspen, Meeker, and Minturn, CO
  • Recreation in Minturn, Eagle, Rifle, Steamboat Springs, Yampa, and Walden, CO and Laramie, Saratoga, and Douglas, WY
  • Trails in Dillon and Aspen, CO

Current BLM positions include:

  • Realty interns in Meeker and Craig, CO
  • Survey intern in Ft. Collins, CO
  • Rangeland intern in Silt and Meeker, CO
  • Upland Ranger intern in Kremmling, CO
  • Vegetation and Soils Monitoring (AIM) crew leader and crew member interns in Craig, Silt, Meeker, and Kremmling, CO

Special Benefits

Upon successful completion of the season, participants will qualify for the Public Land Corps Hiring Authority, which gives priority hiring when applying for jobs with the USFS and BLM. It takes two years of year-round work with a federal agency to qualify at the same level. In order to qualify, you must reach a minimum of 640 hours of work and education throughout the term.

Minimum Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 18 Years of age or older with a valid driver license and clean driving record.
  • Eligibility to work in the US
  • This position is supported by the Public Lands Hiring Authority which requires candidates to be between the ages of 16 to 30.
  • Pre-service background screening required, including FBI background check
  • Must be able to provide proof of eligibility to work in the United States
