Job Overview

 We typically employ 10 – 11 sea kayak guides and one Logistics Coordinator each summer season to run half-day, full-day, and multi-day sea kayaking trips in Resurrection Bay and Kenai Fjords National Park. We focus on having a supportive, open and engaging company culture while inspiring our guests to reclaim an active stewardship of the natural world through our educational tours. 

Seward is one of Alaska’s premier adventure towns, with incredible hiking, biking, and running trails easily accessible from our front door. The Kenai Fjords National Park (where we run the majority of our tours) is one of the most productive marine ecosystems in the world during the summer. This place provides our guides with amazing opportunities to facilitate important, transformative outdoor experiences for our guests.  

We are looking for a kind, mature, inspirational person with leadership skills, professionalism, and enthusiasm, to accompany strong communication, office, computer, and organizational skills.  Applicants for this position must want to handle logistics, reservations, and customer service for an outdoor operator, in a fast-paced work environment.  Multi-tasking skills are a must, and the ability to make decisions under pressure is key. This position is ideal for someone who is potentially interested in someday owning their own outdoor company, as the LC will be directly involved in all aspects of the daily operations at the shop. Applicants for this position must be strong and fit, as the LC position involves loading/unloading/carrying kayaks.

We run the most extensive paid guide training in the area, which is required of all employees (new and returning guides & LC), and lasts for about three weeks, starting in late April.  Our tours focus on client education & inspiration, and we strive to be conservation leaders within our small Alaska community. As members of 1% for the Planet we donated over $10,000 last year to local non-profits working towards important environmental conservation efforts in Alaska. Our company culture is deeply rooted in our personal core values and desire to share and protect the natural world. 

The LC must commit to the whole summer, through early-September.  The work day starts early and ends late, and is filled with lots of multi-tasking.  It’s a busy day, meeting and greeting customers, handling all reservations and phone, email, walk-in inquiries, managing guide work assignments, and occasionally driving trips to and from the beach.  This person must be able to coordinate many logistical details while maintaining a friendly, relaxed & supportive presence in the office.  Housing is not included for this position, and the LC will be responsible for securing their own personal housing and transportation in Seward.
