Job Overview

Job duties are fluid depending on the position. 

Some of your job duties may include, but are not limited to the following items.

  • Plan, organize and offer activities to the whole camp community in the morning and afternoon.
  • Actively participate and occasionally organize evening or special events and activities.
  • Organize cabin or trips living group, including housekeeping, peer relations, and the positive treatment of others. 
  • Live with 5-8 campers and help in their adjustment to each other and camp.
  • Responsible for oversight of the health and safety of each camper in your cabin and at camp.
  • Establish logical & reasonable rules for group living
  • Interpret and enforce camp policies and procedures.
  • Provide an appropriate role model for campers in language, actions, belief, sensibilities, etc. 
  • Treat campers with confidence, giving them personal pride, common courtesy, answer their questions seriously, listen to opinions seriously, allow for physical and mental privacy of campers, share joys, sorrows, and disappointments, allow a camper to fail or be unsuccessful, give guidance in matters in which camper is too inexperience to figure out for him/her self. 
  • Provide a quiet-down evening time, telling stories, reading/talking over the day’s experience.
  • Assist other staff/counselors in their responsibilities, i.e., help guard at the waterfront, help with art activities, etc.
