JOB SUMMARY:

To provide management, instruction and maintenance for the Forest Home Recreation department under the direction of the Director of Recreation

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Participates as an active member of the recreation leadership team, upholding the Mission, Vision and core values of Forest Home.
  • Assists in managing all recreation elements including high and low ropes/challenge course elements, aquatics, lifeguards, mountain bike excursions and other various recreation activities.
  • Assists in hiring and management of all recreation employees including: Supervising, training, scheduling, evaluating, payroll and spiritual development.
  • Maintains industry standards, techniques and safety procedures for the operation and maintenance of high adventure elements as set by ACCT, ASTM, ACA, and OHSA.
  • Manages and maintains all aquatics facilities, equipment and programing in accordance with department policy, ACA, OSHA, and county regulations.
  • Evaluates safety policies, potential hazards, close-calls/accidents, and develops action plans to address problem areas.
  • Works with recreation leadership team to advance the department as a leader in the industry in innovation, facility management, programing, safety, training, employee management and care.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

  • High school diploma(bachelors degree preferred)
  • 4+ years experience in either high adventure recreation or aquatics required
  • 2+ years management experiencerequired
  • Certified Lifeguard, lifeguard instructor and pool operator, or willing to obtain
  • ACCT Challenge Course Manager Certification, or willing to obtain
  • Construction, landscaping, pool maintenance experience highly preferred.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:  Responsible for hiring and management of all recreation employees including: Supervising, training, scheduling, evaluating, payroll and spiritual development.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, and sit on both easy and rough terrain. Occasionally requires strenuous physical work including lifting, pushing, or pulling of objects weighing 60 pounds or less. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers and speaking and hearing ability sufficient to communicate in person.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Work involves moderate exposure to unusual elements such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate but can be loud at times.
