Green Chimneys is known around the globe as leader in nature-based and therapeutic education. Our Summer Camp program embraces the belief that children learn and grow through interactions with animals and experiences in nature. Expand your network. The majority of Summer Camp staff are college students, ages 18-25, studying education, psychology, recreational therapy, physical education, and more. Requirements: Must be at least 18 years of age by June 2021 and have a desire to work with children outdoors. Prior experience working with children, teens or adults in similar setting preferred but not required. Environmental background, ability to accept guidance and supervision, and a willingness to work with and learn from people from different cultures and backgrounds are all essential skills for this position. The Camp Counselor will provide a fun, supportive and warm atmosphere where campers can improve their individual potential, gain understanding of others, experience new ideas and develop an appreciation for the environment. This position must be a good role model for campers, develop relationships with each camper within the group, promote positive group interaction, follow established procedures for maintaining campers health and safety, work together with other staff to plan and schedule weekly activities, and other related duties as directed by the Head Counselor or Camp Supervisor.
Must be at least 18 years of age and have one year of college/post high school experience. Energy and enthusiasm for long days, a desire to work with children outdoors, prior experience working with children, teens or adults in similar setting, outdoor living skills and/or environmental background, ability to accept guidance and supervision, and a willingness to work with and learn from people from different cultures and backgrounds are all essential skills for this position. CPR, Lifeguarding and advanced First Aid are desired upon starting.
