Job Overview

Earth Immersion SCUBA Summer Camp is a scuba, adventure and outdoor education camp for teens (13-17 yrs) looking for an unmatched experience exploring North Florida’s crystal clear springs. We offer 7 and 13-day overnight co-ed programs. Our main focus is exceptional and safe scuba training. We are currently seeking qualified and enthusiastic SDI Open Water Instructors, Assistant Instructors and Divemasters (including those willing to crossover to SDI) for an exciting and unique opportunity. Staff will also serve as camp counselors and will be responsible for supervising camper activities. This is a great opportunity for new and experienced instructors to get lots of teaching experience in a scuba immersion setting.

Expectations:

  • Conduct up to 4 scuba dives per day (typically 2) and lead/teach divers, if qualified.
  • Put campers’ needs first and remain positive and enthusiastic throughout all activities.
  • Willingness and capability to work long days in the Florida heat while keeping up with teenagers on the move for most of the day.
  • Encourage and play outside games with students. Ensure all campers are included and engaged in something.
  • Help organize diver flow in and out of the water.
  • Be able to lift 40-50 lbs (full scuba tanks).
  • Work with other staff in recognizing what needs done each day and complete those tasks.
  • Assist and guide students on hikes whenever needed.
  • Following breaks between sessions, report back to the camp home by the specified time, and make sure camp home is ready for students (i.e. clean, organized).
  • Stay in the home with the students (you will be living with them) for the duration of camp dates (June 12 – August 7).

Special Benefits

Benefits:

  • Compensation will be based on experience and qualifications.
  • Room and board (no costs need to be incurred while helping with the camp)
  • $100 for any camper who signs up that you refer
  • Overnight canoe trips
  • River tubing
  • Adventure in North Central Florida that few get to experience
  • Working with teens from diversified backgrounds
