Job Overview

Dream Team Associate:

Support the day-to-day operations of Girl Scouts of Colorado (GSCO)’s DreamLab in Denver in a highly collaborative environment by leading with superior customer service to our Girl Scout members and community. Responsibilities include retail and hospitality tasks, with facility management support.

This position is currently part-time, but has the potential to become a full-time position with benefits.

About the DreamLab: The Girl Scout DreamLab is a new way to experience Girl Scouting. It’s a physical space in the Lowry neighborhood where girls and troops will be able to experiment in the STEM center, climb the bouldering wall, practice outdoor skills in the camping area, and get creative in the podcast booth. The first of its kind in the nation, the Girl Scout DreamLab is part of a national property strategy to meets the needs of Girl Scout members, volunteers, staff, and supporters while providing a highly visible, interactive space to showcase our brand. This 4,000-square-foot space includes a 450-square-foot boutique and shared workspace for staff. Construction will be completed with a grand opening in early 2023. A successful candidate will be excited about facilitating the opening and implementation of this innovative, new concept, as well as working with youth, families, volunteers, and GSCO community members.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service
    1. Provide a warm, welcoming, and inclusive experience to all Girl Scout and community members who visit the DreamLab.
    2. Greet all visitors, answer questions, provide appropriate resources, and assist guests who have reserved space and time at the DreamLab.
    3. Be prepared to assist with tours, special events, and program activities preparation and clean-up as needed.
  • Retail Support
    1. Assist with retail functions, to include but not limited to: execution of sales; ensuring proper cash handling procedures; implementing loss prevention practices and reporting potential incidents.
    2. Work with the DreamLab Manager and other Dream Team staff to meet retail metrics.

 

  • Marketing Support
    1. Guide Girl Scouts and other GSCO stakeholders to create content that enhances our brand and can be leveraged to deliver on our Brand Promise of being a champion for girls and position Girl Scouts as the premier leadership development organization for girls.
    2. Identify newsworthy and socially relevant Girl Scout stories happening within the DreamLab, and work with Girl Scouts, troop leaders, and other GSCO key stakeholders to tell those stories through GSCO-owned channels.

 

  • Facility Management Support
    1. Prepare facilities for guests. Assist authorized groups and their leaders in the use and care of the facility, and work with Outdoor Program & Property Administrator to communicate with groups prior to arrival.
    2. Support day-to-day operations of the DreamLab with team, to include but not limited to: opening, closing, mail retrieval, ensuring equipment and technology is working or appropriate help is sought, support vendors who maintain and repair facility and equipment, conduct regular rounds of the space to ensure safety and cleanliness, and assure security of the DreamLab.
    3. Assist with positive working relationship with property management and landlord, as well as tenants in the nearby vicinity.
    4. With the support of the DreamLab Manager, respond to emergencies that arise.
    5. Maintain DreamLab organization, appearance, and cleanliness. Maintain a safe work environment and report potential hazards.

 

  • Administration
    1. Support DreamLab survey administration.
    2. Interact with digital systems and create more efficient systems and processes where applicable including Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, CheckFront, Outlook, Formstack, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others.

 

  • Cross-Functional Duties
  1. Collaborate with other departments, including Programs, Outdoor Property & Programs, and Fund Development, to plan, prepare materials for, and host GSCO programs in the experience center.
  2. Embrace diversity and inclusiveness by contributing to positive relationships between diverse racial, ethnic, and social groups in the Council as a whole and between employees, volunteers, girls, and visitors to the experience center.
  3. Ensure compliance with GSCO policies and operational guidelines.

 

Required competencies:

  • One year or more retail customer experience, preferred, but not required.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including opening and/or closing, nights, weekends.
  • Knowledge of visual merchandising standards and techniques, and ability to implement corporate guidelines.
  • Knowledge of electronic Point of Sales (POS) and inventory management.
  • Experience in working with diverse populations of staff and volunteers, demonstrated personal and professional commitment to pluralism.
  • Ability to effectively and professionally present information and respond to questions from internal GSCO staff and external GSCO audience including staff, volunteers, Girl Scouts, parents and the community.
  • Knowledge of (or ability/willingness to learn) Counter Point POS, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook email.

 

Educational or Formal Training:

  • No formal educational requirements

 

Experience:

  • Minimum of one year retail experience, preferred, but not required.
  • Experience using Counter Point POS, Microsoft Teams, and Outlook email, preferred, but not required.
  • Experience working with youth, preferred, but not required.

Other Requirements:

  • Must pass all required background checks
  • Must be fluent in speaking, reading, & writing English
  • Desired to be fluent in speaking, reading, & writing Spanish

 

Salary:

  • This position pays a range of $ 17.29-$21.15 per hour
