About Route of the Hiawatha
Find the light at the end of every tunnel on the Route of the Hiawatha. 10 tunnels and 7 trestles make this one of the most scenic rails to trails conversions in the world. Nestled in the Bitterroot Mountains on the Montana/Idaho border this 16-mile trail is both beautiful and rich in history as one of the great engineering feats of the Milwaukee Road.
The Employee Experience
Every day is an adventure on the Route of the Hiawatha! This is a dynamic and fast-paced environment with guest service at the forefront of our operations. Surrounded by the beautiful Bitterroot Mountains and lacking the modern convivence of cell service our staff are a resource for all guests as we ride the trail to aid our visitors.
Ideal Candidate
Our staff needs to be outgoing, resourceful, problem-solvers and outdoor-oriented as most are expected to spend the majority of the day outside.
Room and Board
Housing is available for those who qualify. This shared dorm-style conversion does have a full kitchen, Wifi, Cable TV, and washer and dryer on the property. Rooms are shared with shared bathrooms. Day rates and Monthly rates are available. Housing is on the Idaho side in Mullan, ID or Osburn, ID.
Employee Perks
Employees enjoy unlimited access to the bike trail, shuttles, downhill mountain biking, and scenic chairlift rides. Discount on food and beverages at the main base area and employee lunches on select days each month.
Getting Here and Getting Around
Personal vehicles are welcome. There is limited public transportation in the Silver Valley on the ID side and none in MT. Bikes can work as an alternative but distances can be far. Carpooling with other staff is an option. The closest airports are in Spokane, WA, and Missoula, MT.
For Fun
Surrounded by National Forests and miles of biking, hiking, and access to fishing streams, rafting on the Clark Fork, St. Joe, and North Fork, there is something for everyone. Wallace, ID hosts countless festivals each weekend in the summer. Less than 2 hrs to Glacier National Park, Missoula, Coeur d'Alene, and Spokane provide a change of scenery and other amenities not found in the Silver Valley or St. Regis Valley.

Job Overview
Bus Drivers make up a crucial part to our team as they help guest go uphill form Pearson to Roland. Drivers will need to be able to lift and load up to 50 lbs, have strong communication and teamwork skills. Drivers must have a CDL with a passenger endorsement to work as a bus driver and feel comfortable driving on unpaved roads.
