Overnight Camp Backpacking Specialist

For almost 20  years, Avid4 Adventure has empowered kids to live active outdoor lifestyles through our unique outdoor programming.  As a Backpacking Specialist with our Windy Peak Overnight Camp, you will do exactly that by guiding kids on multi-day backpacking adventures. Job Overview

In this role you will:

• Provide 24-hour support with guidance, supervision, safety and comfort for participants during all activities.
• Co-lead an activity group of up to 13 campers, leading daily outdoor programming including mountain biking, rock climbing, kayaking, canoeing, SUPing and Leave No Trace principles. 

• Organize and participate in camp programming, ranging from outdoor sports to camp games and rituals.

• Guide an overnight experience, ranging from an 1-night overnight onsite to a 5-day backpacking trip.
• Serve as a role model and guide campers by exhibiting appropriate behavior, attitudes, and activities.
• Follow and educate campers on safety protocols to ensure the safety and wellbeing of participants. 
• Provide exceptional customer service to parents and all participants in our programs.
• Transport up to 13 campers to and from program areas with company passenger vans

Minimum Requirements

Your Background:

• Must be at least 20 years of age at the start of training. 
• By the start of training, must have an active CPR and Wilderness First Responder (WFR, EMT, or W-EMT) certifications
• 1+ years of experience leading multi-day backpacking/camping  trips in a professional, volunteer, and/or personal setting. 
• Valid drivers' license is required. All staff will go through a 2-day 15-passenger van driving training during your first week of employment.

Important Details

• Work Schedule: Overnight camps are a 24/7 operation. The leadership team will create a schedule that provides you with time off throughout each session. This will typically include an extended daily break, 24 hours off per session, and the weekend, (Friday evening to Sunday morning), between each session. 
• Position Duration: Training begins May 17; overnight camp programs run from June 1 through August 2.
• Compensation: Pay is determined based on position, additional responsibilities, relevant certifications, and staff tenure. Starting hourly are below: 
  • Base Pay: $467.50/week
  • Relevant Certification Bonuses: $125 - $400 per certification (up to $1,000)
