Aquatic Invasive Species

Inspector Supervisor

 

North St. Louis SWCD, located in Virginia, MN, is seeking 1 Watercraft Inspector Supervisor for the 2023 Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Program. Supervisors will assist with activities including watercraft inspections, outreach, supervision, and monitoring.

Flexible scheduling. Regular work hours will include weekends and holidays.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Obtain Level 1 and Level 2 DNR watercraft inspector certification
  • Work independently with minimal supervision
  • Willingness to work varying hours and in adverse weather conditions
  • Supervise watercraft inspectors – mainly Thursday through Sunday
  • Maintain and inventory equipment
  • Ability to enter and manage data using various devices
  • Provide dynamic customer service experience to watercraft users
  • Engage in AIS education & outreach at special events and to local organizations
  • Assist with AIS early detection surveys and monitoring activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience
  • Computer skills that include Microsoft Office suite of programs
  • Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record and access to reliable transportation
  • Ability to pass criminal background check(s)

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Prior watercraft inspection and decontamination experience
  • Enthusiasm for outdoor recreation and ecosystem health
  • Prior Education and/or Customer Service experience
  • Prior experience towing and backing up trailers
  • Knowledge of federal and state statutes, rules and policies applicable to aquatic invasive species, employment and safety

HOURS, WAGE & BENEFITS:

  • Starting at $17.00/hour
  • College internship credits available upon request
  • April thru September: up to 40 hours weekly, primarily Thursday – Monday and holidays.
  • Additional hours may be available in October. Benefits: access to voluntary deferred compensation 457(b) retirement plan and Employee Assistance Program (EAP).
