We’re perfectly placed for play: skiing at Lookout Pass or Silver Mountain, biking the Route of the Hiawatha, mountain biking at Silver Mountain, and cruising the Trail of the Coeur d'Alene's right past our door. Keep rooms spotless, coach a solid team, and spend your off hours in the mountains, on a bike trail, hanging in the fun event filled historic Wallace, or on the river.

Pay: $16.00 - $18.00 per hour plus housing

Job description:

Location: Wallace, ID (on-site)

  • Schedule: 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m., 5 days/week (hours may vary by occupancy); weekends/holidays required

Status: 32–40 hours/week Compensation: $16.00/hr (experience-based; 90-day review)

About Stardust Motel:

Since new ownership in 2022, guests consistently praise our friendly team and spotless rooms. The Head Housekeeper leads that standard every day—working on the floor, setting the pace, and coaching the team.

Role Summary

You are the working lead for Housekeeping: cleaning to standard, assigning rooms, inspecting quality, coordinating deep cleans, and keeping the day flowing with the housekeeping team. You handle light maintenance, cross-train with the Front Desk, and report to the AGM ...aligning on priorities and communicating updates regularly.

What You’ll Lead & Do

Daily operations & room readiness

  • Lead pace/quality during turns and refreshes; jump in as a working lead.

Assign rooms and priorities; track progress; release rooms on schedule.

  • Conduct quick QC inspections and fix small misses on the spot.

Pitch in with laundry and cart/closet readiness as needed. Deep cleans & projects (seasonal)

Own the deep-clean cadence (baseboards, vents, grout, fixtures) using the checklist.

  • Coordinate carpet/spot treatment and seasonal project work.

Light maintenance & coordination in rooms

Replace bulbs/batteries, tighten hardware, handle minor touch-ups; report bigger issues fast to Maintenance Supervisor.

  • Update Maintenance/Housekeeping whiteboards (owner • due date • status) and close the loop with brief notes and photos (if needed).

Partner with Maintenance and Front Desk on RemoteLock items (low batteries, code issues), verify function, and report issues. Front Desk cross-training (multi-tasking focus)

Learn/support InnRoad, OTAs, and Akia for basic coverage to gather the correct information to start and finish the day / HK team's day.

  • Provide polite, fast guest service during peak times or gaps.
  • Ensure room status changes are communicated promptly (clean → inspection → ready). Common areas & grounds

Keep lobby, hallways, laundry, and exterior tidy; reset and restock carts/closets by end of shift.

  • Support seasonal tasks (leaves, snow shoveling/salting) for guest and team safety.

Safety & communication

Send clear pass-downs to the team - everyone knows what’s done and what’s next.

Orient and train new housekeepers; provide friendly, timely coaching.

  • Follow checklists and policies put in place by the GM & AGM; communicate clearly with the AGM.

What Success Looks Like: Room quality: 95%+ pass on weekly inspections; zero critical health/safety misses. Timeliness: Rooms released on plan; team averages ~30 min standard clean, ~45 min full pull, 90 mins for deep clean. Deep-clean cadence: 90%+ of scheduled deep cleans completed monthly; misses rescheduled within 1 week. Cart/closet readiness: Start-of-shift at par; end-of-shift tidy and restocked.

Front Desk assist: Accurate, friendly support; timely status updates to reservations.

Communication: Accurate statuses; clear pass-downs; maintenance items logged and closed with brief notes.

Qualifications:

Experience: 2+ years as a Head Housekeeper and 3+ years as a Housekeeper (required). Systems & service: Reservation systems and customer service experience required (InnRoad/OTAs/Akia a plus; property specifics trained). Proven attention to detail, steady pace, calm problem-solving, and ability to multi-task between floor support and desk coverage.

Comfortable coaching peers with kindness and clarity. Basic fix-it ability (bulbs/batteries/hardware touch-ups). Must have a car Physical Requirements Standing/walking most of shift; bending, kneeling, reaching; stairs/short ladders; lifting up to 50 lbs (linens/equipment). PPE and tools provided.

How to Apply

Send a resume with availability for a video interview, your head housekeeping experience, and one example of how you lifted room quality or solved a tricky cleaning challenge. On-site interviews available for those applicants already living in the area.

Nice-to-Haves

  • InnRoad/OTAs/Akia familiarity (we’ll train).

  • Basic “fix-it” comfort (nothing fancy).

  • Love of snow days, bluebird skies, and small-town charm.

Schedule & Basics

  • On-site in Wallace, ID.

  • Typical daytime window; weekends/holidays as needed.

  • Physical: on your feet, stairs/short ladders, lift/carry up to 50 lbs (team lifts for heavier).

Perks

  • Real teamwork, real impact (independent motel, not corporate).

  • Grow leadership and systems skills.

  • Work where people vacation—mountains, trails, and history all around.
