Girl Scouts of New Mexico Trails (GSNMT) owns and operates two resident (overnight) camp properties that run consecutively (one after the other) from mid-May to early August and Day Camp operations in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Resident (Overnight) camp will run the first half of the summer at Camp Elliott Barker; starting with 10+ days of staff training and moving into camp programming. There will be a small clean up and then a big move to Rancho del Chaparral the last week and week of June. Camp programming and further training will continue from there at the Barker property. We offering programming for campers to attend on their own as well as Troop and Family camp weekends.

{Rancho del Chaparral}
Located in the Santa Fe National Forest through the Jemez Mountain range between Jemez Pueblo and Cuba, NM Rancho is a traditional, rustic camp with a eight (8) sleeping units ranging from platform tents to Adirondacks and Hogans. With 1200+ acres there are several outposts for overnight camping and horseback riding trips, a stream for “river” stomping and science exploration, multiple fields for outdoor games, and is in close proximity to Fenton Lake for day trips.

{Camp Elliott Barker}
Located near the town of Angel Fire, Barker offers accommodations in platform tents or rustic cabins (limited or no electricity. Barker hosts our pond, high and low ropes course, gaga ball pit, 550 acres for camping and hiking, and is near Carson National Forest and Eagle Nest Lake for off-site explorations!

{Resident (Overnight) Camp Programming}
Our two rustic properties both specialize in outdoor skills, outdoor cooking, hiking, environmental stewardship, archery, and general camp fun (aka crafts, songs, dancing, theme days, silliness, friendships). In addition to this we offer specialized programs for horseback riding, backpacking, rock climbing, canoeing, and more. Both properties enjoy warm to hot days (70 – 90 degrees) and cool to cold nights and mornings (50 – 40 degrees) throughout the summer and a monsoon season through mid-July with thunderstorms most afternoons. Both properties have latrine or port-o-pottie style toilets and shower houses (with hot and cold water of course). Barker was updated a few years ago with flush toilets added to the cabin living unit.

{Camp Girl Scouts – Albuquerque Day Camp}
Based out of the Albuquerque Experience Center and Council Offices our Day Camp experience exposes campers in Kindergarten through 6th grade to the camp experience. Whether they’re seasoned summer camp attendees or first timers they’ll be able to experience sports and games, arts and crafts, science experiments, camp songs, outdoor skills, and more! Day Camp runs Monday – Friday 9:00 am – 4:30 pm for campers. Staff are required to be there a little earlier and a little later for set up and cleaning.
