Job Overview
We are looking for Day Camp Counselors with strong leadership, creativity and enthusiasm, to inspire and guide girls through the adventure and fun of themed day camp programs and specialized activities. As Day Camp Counselor you’ll plan, lead and assist in the teaching, supervision and safety of daily program activities for an assigned unit of campers.
- Assume responsibility and supervision for a unit of campers and effectively guide their experience
- Plan, lead and assist in the development, supervision and teaching of program activities to meet session goals, incorporating teaching of an appreciation for camp and the outdoors and other special skills
- Maintain high standards of health and safety in all activities for campers and staff, in accordance with council, GSUSA, ACA policies, procedures and standards
- Ensure campers are properly supervised at all times, including supervision of off-site trips or activities
- Remain alert to campers and staff and assist them with personal and/or health needs; consult with camp health manager and/or camp director, when appropriate
- Alert to equipment and facilities to ensure safe utilization, proper care and maintenance is adhered to; report repairs needed promptly to camp director
- Maintain positive and professional relationships with staff, campers, parents and volunteers
- Adhere to call council policies and procedures, and observe all safety precautions and health and safety rules and procedures
- Attend and actively participate in pre-camp staff training (40 hours), mid-summer in-service training and all required staff meetings
- Maintain flexibility and cooperation to assist with other camp roles or program, as needed
- Performs other duties, as assigned

Minimum Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age and a high school graduate
- Able to work the full summer camp season - June 20th - August 16th
- Current First Aid/CPR/AED certification, or able to obtain certification before the first day of work
- Experience working with or supervising in a youth-oriented program; understanding of child development and age-appropriate behaviors
- Ability to build and maintain positive and professional relationships with campers, parents, and staff, able to work with diverse youth
- Able to attend all staff and in-service training during the summer
- Ability to maintain confidentiality
- Ability to work independently, but also take direction
- Must submit health history record prior to first day of work
- Valid drivers’ license, proof of insurance and access to reliable transportation (Daily and/or occasional travel may be required.)
