Steamboat Springs Transit – Steamboat Springs is located in the heart of the Colorado Rocky Mountains along the scenic Yampa River.

Seasonal Entry Level – Winter Seasonal Transit Bus Driver

Steamboat Springs is an authentic Colorado mountain town that is home to a world class ski resort known around the globe for its champagne powder snow.  Steamboat Springs Transit is looking to fill bus driver positions for the upcoming winter ski season with safe and reliable drivers.

Our paid training class will begin on October 16th, 2019.  The 4 week – 160 hour training class is designed to help anyone obtain their Colorado CDL Class B driver’s license.  We will pay you $11.75 an hour to attend the CDL class.  Once you successfully obtain your CDL and pass the training class, you will be promoted to the seasonal bus driver and paid $18.00 an hour for the remainder of the winter season.  Steamboat Springs Transit also offers an extra $1.00 an hour to all shifts that run significantly past midnight.

The typical working week is 37-40 hours made up of 4 & 5 day work weeks.  The newer bus drivers usually work weekends & nights. The bus service runs from 5:00am to 4:00am daily.

Steamboat Springs Transit will offer an end of season bonus of $1.00 an hour, for all hours worked, paid to those who work the entire winter season.   There is also a $350 early sign on bonus for those who sign up before October 1, 2019.

Our bus drivers are responsible for safely operating a public transportation bus and transporting passengers on a prescribed route, on time and in accordance with local, state and federal standards.  Our drivers must practice safe defensive driving techniques, be knowledgeable of the area, provide guests with schedule/route information, assist disabled guests on and off the bus, and complete reports of all accidents, damage, or incidents of vandalism.  Our bus drivers will also be assigned to bus wash duties as part of their normal working shift.

Successful applicants will need to have…

  • An acceptable driving record, with no alcohol or drug related convictions in the last 7 years.
  • A current valid driver’s license.
  • A clean background check.
  • An ability to commit to the entire season; mid-October to mid-April.
  • The ability to pass all DOT CDL requirements including medical screening, random drug testing, and licensing requirements.

Employee housing will be offered in a first come first serve fashion and rental rates will vary.  All city of Steamboat Springs employees have free access to Howelsen Hill Ski Area & Ice Rink, and the ability to sign up for use of the Ski medallions to gain free access to the Steamboat Springs Ski Area (limited availability).

Wages/Pay: $18.00 / hour
