CDT PROJECT LEADER(Seasonal Position with possibility of permanency)
GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES:
60% Field Work
40% Office Work
SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under direction of Field Program Manager
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Will supervise volunteer crew chefs and volunteers.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
Coordinates, implements, and evaluates CDTC’s volunteer projects
Attends and oversees all field projects
Provides technical leadership and expertise to volunteer trail crews
Ensures tools and gear are maintained properly before and after projects
Maintains volunteer database; tracking and reporting volunteer accomplishments.
Processes volunteer registrations and distributes pre-project and post-project information to volunteers
Assures all work meets National Trail System standards
Develops and implements the CDT Adopter Program
Maintains database of existing CDT Adopters
Collects CDT Adopter reports and tracks accomplishments
Recruits future individual CDT Adopters and groups
Assists in development of CDT Adopter Program
Increase CDTC effectiveness and presence trailwide
Provides public information and directs resources for trail users and maintainers
Maintains website updates for volunteer content
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES: This full-time, seasonal position (July – October) requires leadership experience in constructing and managing non-motorized trails through collaborative partnerships, proven success in program coordination and a background in volunteer management. Requires a minimum of two years of experience in sustainable trail construction techniques and crew leadership/volunteer management.
Requires the willingness and ability to travel on the CDNST in remote locations. Requires the ability to perform physical trail work and supervise and lead others in trail maintenance activities. Trail design, maintenance and construction skills required as well as proven experience working with volunteers. Previous experience recruiting, training and managing trail crews also necessary. WFR/WFA and advanced skills preferred.
Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google Drive. Must possess strong leadership skills and excellent time management skills. Experience with ArcGIS and Adobe programs a plus. Must be self-directed, organized, detail oriented and flexible and be able to handle multiple projects and manage logistical challenges in a fast paced environment. Must possess good interpersonal skills, be team oriented and enjoy working both autonomously and with others.
The ability to maintain a flexible schedule is necessary. This position requires frequent travel
(including weekends) that may last from one to 3 weeks in duration.
Work is performed both indoors in a busy, collaborative office space where noise and interruptions prevail, and outdoors where environmental elements prevail. Must be able to frequently sit and walk for long periods and distances, stand, climb, bend, kneel, sit, stoop, reach and lift, push or pull. Manual dexterity is required. The ability to talk and hear via the telephone and through face-to-face communication is needed. Vision requirements include near and far acuity. Upper body strength is required to lift/move up to 50 pounds unassisted and 100 pounds assisted. The employee is frequently required to operate a personal vehicle as well as CDTC rental vehicles, therefore current driver’s license, auto insurance and clean driving record are required. Individual will work out of CDTC headquarters in Golden, CO, from a home and from remote or field based locations along the CDT. Significant travel is required.
EDUCATION: Degree in Natural Resources/Recreation Management or equivalent work experience
EXPERIENCE: Minimum of 2 years project coordination experience
RATE OF PAY: 14.50/hour, salaried
