Job Overview

New England Science & Sailing Foundation (NESS) seeks ten AmeriCorps STEM Education Ambassadors (SEA) to join the national movement of 80,000 Americans who choose to serve in communities that need it most. NESS SEA Members will implement NESS’s AmeriCorps program, in partnership with the New London Public School District (NLPS). The NESS SEA AmeriCorps team will work with students in grades Pre-K through 12.

  • Members will be responsible for planning, leading, and implementing extended day academic enrichment programs with students taking place before, during, and after school throughout the school year. Enrichment programs will take place at various field and classroom sites managed by NESS in New London.
  • There may be additional opportunities for one or more members to plan and lead high school clubs and activities.
  • Field programs will consist of sailing, kayaking, tide pooling, and other various field science activities.
  • Classroom programs consist of many different STEM topics including dissection labs, engineering remote-operated vehicles, physics of boat design, and many more topics!
