City of Boulder Open Space & Mountain Parks
Junior Ranger Team Leaders will teach, mentor, and supervise teams of youth aged 14-17 on the City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Park lands this summer. They build functional teams, complete trail maintenance and land restoration projects, and support youth stewardship and job skill development.
Team Leaders supervise Conservation/Trail Crews, integrate learning opportunities into their project timelines, facilitate environmental education lessons, support program and department goals, and receive career and leadership development themselves as they work beside project sponsors and attend organized talks and trainings from Open Space & Mountain Parks department staff. Projects throughout the summer include trail maintenance and construction, forestry, vegetation, agriculture, and ecological restoration.
This is a full time, seasonal, field-based position that lasts approximately 3 months and is located in Boulder, Colorado.
- Must have a valid drivers’ license and the ability to maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record. You will be responsible for driving minors and must demonstrate defensive driving skills.
- Acceptable background information, including criminal history, is required.
- Minimum age: 21 years old by program start date.
- Ability to perform a wide range of physical and manual tasks (including hiking, manipulating tools, working together to move heavy objects) in an outdoor environment for extended periods of time in all weather conditions.
