Job Overview

Alford Lake Camp is looking for the right person to be a part of our community and head our Sailing program for the summer! We sail Widgeons and JY15’s. Knowledge of small boats and upkeep of boats a must.

Our campers are ages 8-15 and may have years of sailing at camp or may never had been in a boat ever. Our goal is to get campers out sailing, for them to learn as much as possible and have a blast while maintaining all safety standards. When working at camp we all ‘chip in’ to make camp run doing various odd jobs outside of our specific teaching position. Some of these duties are listed below.

This position will include but will not be limited to:

In the department –

*managing a staff of 4-5 counselors

*stepping and de-stepping boats (beginning and end of season)

*setting moorings

*maintaining the boats doing minor repairs when necessary

*working with the Head of Maintenance to ensure that upkeep of the boats and the Whaler

*completing paperwork with regard to Staff evaluations, equipment check lists and a year-end department report

*attending bi-weekly meetings with all Heads of departments and Directors

*working with and communicating with the Waterfront Head and the Directors

*closing and storing the department for the winter

Outside of the department –

*share night time tent line duty

*share in the duties pertaining to the dining room i.e. heading or footing a table

*help with making Sunday picnic lunches

*running an evening activity
