Project American Life
Project American Life (P.A.L.) is seeking energetic, caring professionals to work with young people in a residential camp setting.
P.A.L. is held at YMCA Hargis Retreat near Birmingham, AL and is an exciting, hands-on, minds-on civics & character education fieldtrip for students in the sixth grade. Group leaders are primarily responsible for 10-12 students & use various interactive games and general cooperative learning techniques to make American History come alive & to help instill a sense of gratitude, value, & purpose – all while having fun in the great outdoors. Leaders also facilitate large group activities & lead follow-up discussions.
The program is 4 days/3 nights each week (usually Tues-Fri) with no overnight responsibilities for P.A.L. staff. Staff housing, training, & most meals provided. Paid positions, internships, & volunteer opportunities available. Program is seasonal.
Fall season runs September through November.
