We are a remote, self-sustained wilderness lodge in Silver Salmon Creek, Alaska offering lodging, meals and wildlife viewing to guests visiting from all over the world. We have the joy of occasionally spotting brown bears around the lodge while we are working. Staff enjoy the fresh produce they help to grow on site in the garden and occasionally freshly caught Alaska salmon.
Must be versatile in preparing all meals from scratch including desserts and breads, averaging 15 – 20 plates per meal, usually family or buffet style, making adjustments for guests with dietary restrictions. Let your personality shine and bring a friendly, positive attitude; an energetic person for a high energy place! Timeliness of meals is important to the ordering of food and supplies. Supervise kitchen help around meal times. We seek someone who maintains high standards of cleanliness and food safety.
We have a large garden and greenhouse that yields fresh produce and herbs each day. Our chef does assist with the gardening care at slower times of the day. We are thankful for this beautiful setting and are excited to share this with our team as well as our guests.
We are looking for a team-oriented person who takes pride in a well-kept kitchen. (Here, it’s a focal point for our guests) and who enjoys the great outdoors. This is a drug-free and smoke-free, non-alcohol position, and due to contact with guests, we require a professional appearance. Background checks required.

Our guests come from around the world to visit the Alaska Homestead Lodge and view the amazing coastal brown bears. Guests arrive by small bush plane, landing on the beach, approximately 130 air miles southwest of Anchorage.
Compensation: Salary based on experience. Tips, room and board, and round-trip air charter from Anchorage to the lodge. (You will need to provide your transportation to Anchorage International Airport).
Hours: 12 – 14 hours per day, 1 day off per week
Dates: One position available from June 5 – September 7, 2019
Accommodations: The chef will have their own bedroom with a shared bathroom. Phone and internet service is intermittent, satellite internet service is okay for emails but not social media.
