The Standing Boy Property consists of over 1,500 acres of natural, rolling hills located in northwest Columbus. It is bordered on the south by the Green Island Hills neighborhood and the west by the Chattahoochee River / Lake Oliver.
Over the past years, a team of volunteers (now formalized as Standing Boy, Inc.) has raised private dollars from our community and begun the construction of a unique and high-quality trail system for hikers, runners, and bikers. We hope you’ll come check out the trails!
SECC’s Standing Boy Trials crew will have the opportunity to build a completely new, hand-built trails in Columbus, Georgia. The Standing Boy Property consists of over 1,500 acres of natural, rolling hills located in northwest Columbus. These exciting new hiking trails will complement the newly built mountain bike trails to engage multiple user groups such as hikers, mountain bikers, and trail runners of varying skill levels. The crew and this project work will be completed in partnership with community members directly responsible for the creation of this new park.

Wages: $400 per week, paid biweekly. A $1,678.57 AmeriCorps Education Award upon successful completion of the program
Benefits: Food & transportation provided while in the field overnight, uniform shirts, and personal protective equipment. Members will also receive orientations and trainings as available
