Big Stone SWCD
Duties: This seasonal position is under direct supervision of the Big Stone Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) District Technician and Manager. The position is primarily responsible for implementing projects regarding invasive species management in Big Stone County. This is a multi-pronged approach focused on our newest invasive weeds that will include: education, documentation, mapping and treatment. This position will monitor, treat, and document the locations of invasive species infestations. This position will also gain valuable experience being involved with government programs and projects working within the Natural Resource Conservation Service (NRCS) and the Soil & Water Conservation District (SWCD) agencies. The work hours are weather dependent but main course of position will be weekdays and position will end before Winter. The hours may vary based on what work is available for completion. This position may also be involved with seeding native grass projects, grassland mowing, tree plantings, and site inspections; as well as other duties assigned by the Big Stone SWCD. This position is grant funded and has the possibility of being available for future seasons.
